The latest GS generation kicked off 2024 with maximum buzz. Everyone wanted to see it, hear it and ride it. BMW has updated the bike so much that nearly everything is new: chassis, drive train, engine, electronics, suspension and ergonomics.
In late 2023, SW-MOTECH presented an accessorized R1300GS at its EICMA booth—and in combination with the absence of BMW—it generated a great deal of interest with show visitors and media. Important additions such as side carriers, engine guards and crash bars were already fitted to the bike and SW-MOTECH has now expanded its product offerings even further. Most of these new products have already started to arrive on U.S. warehouse shelves.
The new flagship ADV bike from BMW weighs an impressive twenty-six pounds less than its predecessor with the weight being trimmed across the entire bike. This is clearly visible with the tank, which has been reduced in favor of extending the seat and now appears significantly less bulky.
Tank Bag Options
These slimming changes have no impact on the PRO tank ring system's attachment mechanism used for PRO tank bags. A total of four models from the PRO series fit the new GS tank including the PRO GS Tank Bag with up to 20 liters of usable storage. To play it safe in the worst weather, 2024 GS riders can also choose between three waterproof "WP" tank bag models including the brand-new PRO Micro WP.
A reliable luggage system is essential for setting off on longer tours with the R1300GS. The robust TRAX ADV aluminum cases are quickly attached to the removable SW-MOTECH PRO carrier and offer abundant lockable space for gear. The rugged waterproof and dustproof cases are available in the M version with a capacity of 37 liters and the L version with a capacity of 47 liters. Both models are available in black or silver.

Engine Guard
To protect the R 1300 GS’s boxer engine from damage, SW-Motech has developed a skidplate made of a 4 millimeter-thick aluminum alloy sheet. This protective part features frame mounting points for additional stability and easy installation without any modifications to the motorcycle. (MSRP $365)
Engine Guard Extension
The skidplate extension protects the front area of the engine block from stone chips. The protector is made of brushed and powder-coated aluminum, and must be mounted together with the SW-MOTECH engine guard. (MSRP $70)
Crash Bars
Based on the new lines of the R 1300 GS, these crash bars not only promise a precise fit but also optimal cornering clearance. The crash bars are made of rugged tubular steel with a weather- and corrosion-resistant powder coating in black plus the surface finish is carried out at the brand’s facility in the Czech Republic. Bike-specific mounting systems enable reliable, easy installation onto the bike’s original attachment points. (MSRP $366)
Upper crash bars
These guards are mounted as an addition to the SW-MOTECH crash bars. Made from black powder-coated steel, the upper crash bars mainly protect the fairing of the motorcycle and radiator. Installation is simple consisting of screw-on mounting on the bike’s original attachment points. (MSRP $325)
EVO Footrest Kit
Designed to improve riding comfort, this kit consists of rotating elements with firmly interlocking teeth offering you 36 options for positioning. The versatile footrest can be adjusted so that it’s lower or moved forwards or backwards as well as adjusted in terms of its angle to suit your individual needs. Made from electropolished, corrosion-resistant cast stainless steel, the kit can be easily installed on the bike’s original footrest mount. (MSRP $201)
EVO Fog Light Kit
This kit includes a set of EVO fog lights and all the parts required to easily and safely install them on the BMW R 1300 GS. The bike-specific headlight brackets are secured to the original attachment points and enable optimal positioning of the headlight. The particularly wide light scatter of the EVO fog lights ensures that you can “see and be seen” in fog or in poor weather. The EVO fog lights are water- and dustproof in accordance with safety class IP69. Powerful LEDs provide the best view, while wear-resistant housings ensure long life. (MSRP $425)
