KLIM’S NEW RAPTOR GTX OVERSHELL JACKET & PANT

KLIM is excited to release the new Raptor GTX Overshell Jacket and Pant, a performance-oriented shell-over-padding system of waterproof gear for hard charging adventure motorcycle riders. The Idaho-based company has been designing waterproof vented shells for over 20 years, and the introduction of the Raptor GTX ties closely to their roots.

KLIM started as a mountain snowmobile clothing company. In the late 1990s, mountain snowmobiling rapidly evolved into an aerobic, physical activity and existing outerwear options didn’t work. The ultimate solution became durable, waterproof, breathable outer shells designed for layering – KLIM did this first and the best.

By the early 2000s an emerging group of motorcycle riders chose waterproof, vented shells to wear over body armor. These were primarily off-road focused riders traveling big distances and at high speeds. They wore a mix of dirt bike gear and padding, but needed wind and water protection for consecutive days in the elements.

KLIM observed creative use of their most durable mountain snowmobile shell, called the Valdez, in adventure riding scenarios and recognized the potential for adventure-specific motorcycle gear. Riders would wear the Valdez over their off-road body armor to have a modular solution for whatever conditions they’d encounter. KLIM took this concept and began testing thoroughly at the highest level possible.

Notable names included Jonah Street and Casey McCoy with multiple Dakar Rally participations among other world-class races during which they tested modified Valdez jackets. These prototypes would pave the way in leaps and bounds for KLIM’s adventure motorcycle gear.

Nearly 15 years later, KLIM brings back their roots with the introduction of their Raptor GTX Overshell, a highly durable, waterproof, vented overshell meant for aggressive adventure riding.

With waterproof Gore-Tex 3-layer Performance Shell technology, Superfabric® for abrasion protection, vents for airflow, pockets for storage, the Raptor GTX is a capable minimalist solution. In fact, the Raptor GTX is even CE B-rated according to standard EN 17092-5 for street abrasion protection.

Internal reinforcements prepare the overshells for use over body armor and knee braces, and the unlined laminate materials reduce bulk and improve mobility.
