BMW has issued a recall for its recently launched R 1300 GS. This applies to the models that were produced before March 18, 2024. The bikes are facing a starting issue due to a faulty relay. What is concerning is that the brand held a service camp to take care of the issue, but it is still present.
The Problem
The problem is with the bike's relay, which is causing starting issues for drivers. Around 25,000 units of the bike seem to be affected by this problem, but only 8 cases have been reported where a relay was burnt or melted. In addition to addressing the hardware issue, BMW will also need to make changes to the models' software.
Solution
The manufacturer is replacing the relay with a new electromechanical starter relay. Only R 1300 GS units manufactured before March 18, 2024, are part of this recall. The most recent models already have the correct components installed.
