Upgrading your motorcycle seat with a Seat Concepts seat cover and foam kit is one of the best ways to improve comfort and performance for long rides. At TMBR MOTO, we’ve installed countless kits, and this guide will walk you through the process step-by-step so you can do it yourself with professional results.
Why Upgrade to a Seat Concepts Kit?
A quality motorcycle seat can make the difference between ending a ride early and going the extra miles. Seat Concepts kits offer:
- Improved comfort for long-distance riding
- Better durability over OEM seats
- Custom fit for a cleaner look
- Cost-effective upgrades compared to buying a complete seat
Tools & Materials You’ll Need
- Flathead screwdriver (staple removal)
- Needle nose pliers (staple removal)
- Scissors (trimming)
- Contact cleaner or rubbing alcohol
- Heat gun or hairdryer (optional but recommended)
- 20-gauge pneumatic staple gun
- stainless-steel staple: 1/2" cr X 1/4" leg (Note: ONLY use 5/16" when the foam is too thick for the shorter staple to properly staple into the plastic seat pan.)
- 3M Super 77 spray adhesive (to glue the foam onto the pan)

Step-by-Step Installation Instructions
1. Remove the Seat from Your Motorcycle
- Carefully lift the seat off your motorcycle.
- Place it on a clean, flat work surface.
2. Remove the Old Seat Cover and Foam
- Use a flathead screwdriver to pry out the staples securing the old cover.
- Remove the old foam and inspect the seat base for cracks or damage.
- Clean seat pan thoroughly with contact cleaner or rubbing alcohol
3. Install the New Foam Padding
- Lightly spray the seat base with 3M spray adhesive.
- Position the new foam on top, aligning it with the seat base edges.
- Press down firmly to ensure good adhesion.
- Let seat padding dry in a warm location for at least an hour

4. Fit the New Seat Cover
- Center the cover over the foam.
- Start stapling from the front center, then move to the rear center, pulling the cover tight as you go.
- Continue stapling along both sides, alternating to keep the tension even.
- Use 3/8" staples for a secure hold.
5. Smooth & Finish
- For a wrinkle-free finish, use a heat gun or hairdryer to warm the material slightly—this makes stretching easier.
- Check all edges and add extra staples where needed.
- Reinstall the seat on your motorcycle.

TMBR MOTO Pro Tips
- Apply spray adhesive in light, even coats—too much can soak into the foam.
- Always start stapling at the center points and work outward.
- Take your time—patience leads to a smoother, more professional look.
