GARMIN RELEASES NEW ZUMO XT2

Garmin has followed up their successful zūmo XT motorcycle navigator with a brand-new model. Garmin zūmo XT2! The XT is one of our favorite adventure accessories, so we are excited to see the improvements and new features available on the latest zūmo iteration. The XT2 boasts a larger, brighter display, stretching 6” diagonally and providing 1050 nits versus the zūmo XT’s 1000 nits 5.5” screen. Garmin’s claimed battery life on the new model remains the same at around 3.5 to 6 hours (depending on brightness settings), which is great considering the unit’s larger display.

While the hardware improvements are attractive, the new zūmo’s features are what really get us excited. The XT2 allows riders to use a visual route planner, see popularly used moto paths, and access ride summaries. It’s easy to start imagining the many use cases for this suite of new data summarization and navigation features, from using the popular paths of other riders to navigate back to familiar terrain, to crafting routes on-the-fly as you look for your trip’s next rest stop.

The new feature’s don’t stop there, however. Potentially the most impactful new function is the “group ride mobile” feature, which allows your mates without a Garmin device to link up with your zūmo XT2 using the Tread app. Using this feature will give you the ability to track other riders on your adventure using their mobile devices as beacons. This makes the XT2 a fantastic option for group riders without requiring that every person buy the same product in order to track each other out on the road or trail.

The new zūmo continues to offer the features that riders loved about the XT, like a glove-friendly touch screen, IPX7 weather resistant construction, and the same mounting plate, in case you do decide to upgrade and want to use your existing MotoPumps Accessories. The XT2 does however have a USB type-C port instead of the XT's micro-USB port.

All in all, the zūmo XT2 capitalizes on what was already a great product, taking the XT’s impressive capabilities and adding even more useful functions to make motorcycle riding safer and more fun.
